My first step as head of RBD Communications is to form a vision committee, immediately following the holidays. This committee will assist me in the formation of our 1 and 5 year plans for carrying out the mission of Recycling Black Dollars. Our stated mission is to aid in economic empowerment of the Black Community by encouraging support of Black owned businesses.
The next step will be to meet with the internet technical experts and the young adults who have been committed to Recycling Black Dollars over the years. The goal there is to expand RBD’s internet capabilities. I look forward to expanding in the areas of web casts, advertising and marketing on the internet, for our members and sponsors. My plan is to have an interactive website, to better communicate with and better display the products and services of our membership and sponsors.
Starting in the first quarter of 2008, RBD Communications will go beyond the physical boundaries of the United States to seek international dollars. We will make use of the internet in this effort, and use the numerous international contacts spawned by Muhammad Nassardeen. Over the years, Muhammad had visited China, Israel, Mexico and Africa obtaining valuable contacts in these emerging markets. My goal is to have international dollars flow into the USA, to be recycled in the Black community, first.
I further plan to meet with our corporate community – the life-blood of RBD, to bind current relationships and build new ones. I want to explore with each corporate sponsor their needs and goals, as they relate to the recycling of dollars in our community.
I will seek to bind and build relationships with organizations that have missions and goals similar to ours, organizations such as SCLC, under Rev. Eric Lee and The 100 Black Men of L.A., an organization which Muhammad was a recent inductee.
I will offer to join forces with those organizations that are beginning to look at the concept of “Knowledge Transfer,” a tremendous problem in the Black community. Knowledge Transfer; how do we pass our businesses and accumulated wealth on to the next generation? Together, I believe, we can develop viable strategies and start on a course of action.
And lastly, we, the staff of Recycling Black Dollars, intend to give you the membership “added value” for your membership dollars. As members, you should feel that you are receiving “something of value” for your membership dues. We will see that you receive the value you seek.
What do I need from you? I need two things…
I need a commitment and a check? That’s very simple, isn’t it? A commitment and a check! You can do that tonight. How? Simply come up to me and say “I am committed!” Then, write a check, payable to RBD Communications, Inc. It’s really just that simple!
In conclusion, please allow me paraphrase what my leadership style will look like:
“As the leader of Recycling Black Dollars, I do not have to be right, first, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. As head of this mighty organization, I cannot be compromised, deterred, diluted, or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.”
I will not give up, back up, let up, or shut up, until the mission of Recycling Black Dollars, a mission started and and eloquently lived lived by Muhammad A Nassardeen, is accomplished.
